Jeff Gordon takes pole at Atlanta Speedway on Friday This was Jeff Gordon's 64th career Cup pole. It's only Gordon's second career pole at this track, he made his first career Cup start at Atlanta Speedway in the final race of the 1992 season. Gordon's first pole at Atlanta's Speedway was in the fall race in 2000. He has four career victories here, winning most recently in the fall of 2003. Jeff Gordon's lap was timed at 29.927 seconds with a speed of 185.251 mph. Jeff Gordon drives the #24 DuPont Chevy Impala SS who now lies in 5th place overall in the Sprint Cup standings. |
