  2007 Chevrolet Aveo
Spacious, refined and redesigned for 2007

The Aveo is an entry level five-door hatchback or a four-door sedan that made its debut in the 2004 model year on GM's acquisition of the Daewoo Motor Company. It is well designed, functional and fun-to-drive with a ‘big car attitude’.

For 2007 the sedan model has been extensively restyled. It is now a tad larger than it was in the previous year. The LT trim has been discontinued while the preceding year’s four-door hatchback has been rechristened the Aveo5.The interiors have been upgraded with added features as well.

The Chevy has a basic warranty of 36 months/ 36,000 miles. A Cruise Control and Remote Keyless Entry Package is available on the LS.

Sophisticated engine design – impressive fuel economy

The 2007 Chevrolet Aveo5 is available as a sedan and as a hatchback. The sedan is available in LS and LT versions, while the Aveo5 (the hatchback) is available in Special Value and LS trims.

It has a 1.6 liter (L) L4 engine that serves up 103 horsepower (hp) and 107 pound-feet (lb.-ft.) of torque.

The 5-speed manual transmission (MT) version has an estimated mileage of 27/37 mpg (city/highway) and the 4-speed automatic transmission (AT) renders 26/34 mpg (city/highway).

Redesigned body

The Aveo projects an upscale aura with its sleek lines, high roof, and short front and rear overhangs. Its architecture is an outstanding statement of class and style. Despite its international appeal the Aveo features distinctive Chevrolet design elements; its signature brand bar and bowtie being one of them.

Body colored front and rear bumpers integrate well with the contours of the car. The Aveo’s structure is designed to withstand the impact of a crash. The cabin’s steel structure is engineered to provide optimal safety to passengers. A side-impact beam provides reinforcement against probable impacts.

Standard exterior features on this Chevrolet include; body panels, composite halogen headlamps, dual body color fold away mirrors and body color door handles. A roof-mounted spoiler is available on the Aveo5 LS. A rear wiper with washer is standard on the Chevrolet Aveo5 models.

Improved, roomy and elegant

The Aveo has exceptionally tasteful interiors for its price. Seats are comfortable, with high-density foam under the LT's deluxe cloth fabric. Air conditioning is par excellence. Rear seating is spacious and comfortable. The Aveo’s 60/40 rear seat flips and folds over to make way for 42 cubic-feet of cargo area. A power sunroof with a sliding shade and tilt position is available on the LT sedan and the Aveo5 LS.

The instrument panel is simple and functional. Storage is plentiful. The LT sedan is available in natural Leatherette upholstery and woodgrain trims. Every Aveo sedan has a standard auxiliary input jack. The LT has an available in-dash six-disc CD/MP3 player.

The Cruise Control and Remote Keyless Entry Package is standard on the Aveo LT. It can lock or unlock the Aveo from about 20 feet away. A built-in content–theft–deterrent system activates when the LOCK button on the key fob is pressed. To disarm, a quick press of the UNLOCK button will do. This package is available on the LS.

The interior includes features such as, cup holders (one in the rear and two in the front), dual 12 volt auxiliary power outlets, a tilt steering column, tinted windows, an emergency trunk release, an AM/FM (standard on the Aveo5 Special Value and LS trims) and an AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 player (standard on the LT trim and optional on the LS trims).

Nimble and efficient

The Aveo’s driving dynamics are extremely satisfactory, especially in comparison with its peers. Steering is matter of fact and functional. The engine is efficient. Suspension is well tuned.

The automatic transmission is a better option than the manual tranny; it provides a refined, responsive performance and excellent fuel economy. The optional anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution improve stability especially under hard braking conditions.

Five star rating

The Aveo scored five-stars (the absolute best) for its protection of front occupants in frontal impacts in NHTSA crash tests.

Side airbags are standard across trims. It has three-point seatbelts for all five passengers with pre-tensioners in the front.

ABS (with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) is optional on LS and LT models.
