One of the first GM dealerships nationwide recognized for eco-friendly efforts

WILMINGTON, NC - Jeff Gordon Chevrolet is showing customers its environmental credentials and was named a General Motors certified Green Dealer. According to the automaker, Jeff Gordon Chevrolet has a proven track record in areas such as energy reduction, renewable energy use, water conservation efforts, recycling, onsite nature habitats and community outreach.

Jeff Gordon Chevrolet is one of the first dealerships GM has certified since the Green Dealer program launched in 2014. Jeff Gordon Chevrolet has a number of green practices in place on site, including:

  • Energy efficient interior and exterior lighting
  • Recycling of packing materials, metals, and water
  • Low-emissivity windows
  • Use of low-toxic cleaning products
  • Energy Star equipment used throughout facility
  • Sponsor of Green Car Display in downtown Wilmington
  • Participation in community college's Drive Electric Week and STEM Program

"Jeff Gordon Chevy considers its employees, customers, and the beautiful coastal community we're fortunate to be a part of, all top priorities," said Jacob Teets, General Sales Manager at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet. "By making little changes around our facility, recycling what we can, and upholding high standards in safety and disposal practices with chemicals, we're both minimizing our impact on the environment and ensuring the safety of our team and customers. We take great pride in that so we plan to uphold and keep improving on it for as long as we're in business."

The dealership had gone through an assessment and validation that they have a high percentage of 60 eco-friendly business practices across 10 categories. This recognition today is an indication that they have continued to improve on that base of required initiatives.

"Green Dealer Support has long been committed to be a leader in environmental stewardship, and we're proud that our dealers share this commitment to serve and improve the communities where we work and live," said Chuck Golden, CEO of Green Dealer Support.

The Green Dealer Program aligns with their manufacturers companywide efforts to reduce its environmental footprint. The program was designed to encourage dealers to implement green initiatives as part of their operations, create a network for sharing best practices and help other dealers begin or advance their sustainability journey.
